Bunyoro
Community Based Aids Organization (BUCOBAO) was started in 2003 after
we the concerned members deliberated to find means of raising the
life expectancy and general well being of the people in the local
communities through interventions to address the spread of HIV/AIDS
and initiate measures to stop the paramedic in Bunyoro.
BUCOBAO is registered as a non-governmental, non-profit making, charitable
organization under registration number S5914/5306. The aims and objectives
of BUCOBAO are mainly concerned with the development of the local
communities in Bunyoro and primarily the control and prevention of
HIV/AIDS.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to individuals, group, other NGOs operating in
the area with focus on HIV/AIDS control with a special emphasis put
on using community initiatives to fight the disease.
There are 3 categories of membership:
Founder Members: These
are people who attended the first meeting and participated in the
founding of BUCOBAO
Ordinary Members: These
are individuals, groups, or organizations whose orientation is HIV/AIDS
control
Honorary Members: This
category is given to persons who are not founders or ordinary members
but those whom by virtue of their positions they can make distinguished
contributions to BUCOBAO in realization of its objectives. They are
to be recommended by the secretariat and approved by the executive
committee at their quarterly meeting.

Nyakana
I would like to thank all those who have assisted in bringing our
organization this far in striving for this noble cause to fight against
HIV/AIDS in Bunyoro. I have a conviction that in this fight we have
to use two approaches: one to fight HIV/AIDS and the other to fight
poverty because they go together therefore our efforts must address
the two issues concurrently.
Our challenges are mostly incapacitated by lack of funds/financial
support, lack of sufficient man-power (volunteers). If you are interested
