Qn 1. "Both my husband and I are HIV positive and we would like to have a (healthy HIV negative) Child, is this possible?"
Ans. Yes it is possible. There is a government program called Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) whereby pregnant women are requested or supported to go for antenatal clinic for treatment and counseling. In this program, medical personnel try to prevent the foetus from being infected at an early stage
Qn 2. How do I access anti-retro-viral (ARV) drugs?
Ans. The government is working out a program for all affected people to access free drugs. To this effect there is a plan to set up a clinic in every sub-county where patients can receive ARVs free of charge. This will be after one has taken the test and is ready to start on the drugs.
